Up In The Air

Question… What have you been doing with the space between your floor & ceiling? Why not embrace suspended elements in your decor? It's fun, fresh and playful. You could do a bench swing...

Or a four poster rope bed...

Or a grouping of hanging chairs...

Or an indoor hammock...

Or an indoor swing...

Or a day-bed porch swing...

While there isn't much I wouldn't give to have an indoor swing, my dream floating scenario is an outdoor one. Picture a rope netting, canopy sort of thing, but really BIG. Perhaps suspended over an eating area. When not in use for lounging, you could drape twinkle lights from it to light your dinner parties.

On sunshiny days or starry nights, you could climb the rope ladder that cascades down from it and catch a few rays while reading a good book (or design magazine!) or just lay and look up at the stars. I'd even bring up a few blankets & pillows to up the comfort quotient. 

So, tell me… What's your dream floating scenario?

LOVE these. House Beautiful's "send us a picture" section was of catalog finds this month. I am in love with the chair that Jonathan Adler sent in - a hanging seat from Ikea. Just looks whimsical & fun!
