Dip Dyed Lamp Shades... Thoughts? Opinions?

After seeing these pillows from Toast on Pinterest, my creativity was jump-started!

I started thinking about trying my hand at dip dying fabric to create a pair of totally original lamp shades for the store.

But, I'm struggling with the composition... Which way do you think the shades should appear to be dipped? Horizontally, or vertically, or diagonally?

Definitely horizontal! It would be very interesting to see one done that way!
