Recently, I've branched out into pattern design. I've been hard at work on designing my own collection of fabrics for use on custom lamp shades + more!

While that's in the works, I figured why not apply my designs to other products as well. Society6 turned my designs into iPhone and iPad cases, digital art prints, stretched canvases, stationary cards + more!

I'm so into this barely there colour right now. If you're looking to incorporate this subtle hue into your decor, perhaps Fara or The Cabot Twins will fit the bill!

Vine is the latest video sharing social media app to hit the scene. It's a little over a week old and it's already spreading like wildfire!

At the moment it's only available for iPhone & iPod Touch. I would describe it as a video, Instagram photo & tweet all rolled in to one. It allows you to record & upload one 6 second video and share it instantly on Twitter & Facebook.

The coolest feature is that it allows you to stop & start your video recording multiple times over the 6 second span in order to show various moments all in one short video.

It was worth it! Here are the highlights from the show...

Best Booth...

Given that I don't have kids, it seems odd that I would pick a booth from the Modern Kid section of the show, but Magic Pony deserves it.

Not only was the design exceptional (like stepping into a private storefront) but their products are phenomenal too. Visit their actual storefront at 680 Queen St. West, Toronto.

I'm officially obsessed with the DIY Unicorno by Tokidoki. It's a sleek looking unicorn figurine that kids (or adults) can get creative with. Use your imagination, along with markers, glitter, or washi tape to give your unicorn a personalized design.

Best Product...

I had to do a double-take when I walked by the Mettro Source booth.

When I spotted these wood panels inside a tile booth, I was like "whaaaa?". Upon closer inspection, I realized that they were the best wood-look tiles EVER. Faux wood tiles can sometimes look cheesy, but these are superbly designed to appear as a high-end, inlayed wood floor. The trick? Tiny grout lines!

They also have a weathered, wood-look tile that would be amazing in a studio space, offering the warm appearance of wood with the easy-to-clean benefits of tile.

Up And Coming...

The Creative Class exhibit showcased the next generation of design from the top schools across Canada.

This vignette by Christina Sicoli, jumped out at me. I love each piece individually, and when combined, they rock my socks!

New Additions...

Normally, IDS is an exhibit only show. But this year, with the addition of the designboom mart, attendees were able to purchase goods from indie designers. 

The space, designed by Arc & Co., consisted of a series of simple wood cubes & typographic posters. It looked great, but it was a bit small in my opinion.

Being a new addition, this space was a hot spot, and there wasn't a whole lot of room to circulate around the displays, sellers & buyers. But, I really do hope that this section returns next year!

Lighting Love...

Studio North was bursting with unique lighting this year.

Using wood veneer in lighting has become a popular trend. Because each pendant by Atelier Cocotte is slightly different, you won't know how the light escaping each strip will dance on your walls until you have it installed.

Hanging pendants in clusters is a sure fire way to make a statement. How fantastic are the shadows that are cast by Jonathan Sabine's pendants?

Glam, yet subtle & sparkly, just like jewelry... No wonder me, and every women I know, can't get enough metallics in their decor & wardrobe these days!

I'm particularly partial to copper right now. On the hunt for copper printed fabrics & vintage bases with copper accents. Let me know if you stumble upon something that might fit the bill!
